Treatment costs vary depending on the type and severity of your condition. Consultation fees are $250 and include all investigations, radiographs, and a comprehensive discussion of findings and treatment options.

Periodontal treatment ranges from simple maintenance to complex regeneration or grafting. Periodontal surgery costs between $1500-$3100 for complex regeneration procedures.

For dental implants, the surgical component ranges from $2010 for a straightforward implant to $4600 for a complex implant requiring bone grafting. The restorative component of the implant is completed by your referring dentist.

If you have private health insurance, you may be eligible for a rebate depending on your health fund and level of cover. Medicare does not cover dental treatment.

Understanding OMS Fees and Insurance

Oral and Maxillofacial fees and insurance.

Treatment costs depend on the complexity of your case and the scope of work required. Consultation fees are $195 and include all investigations, radiographs, and a comprehensive discussion of findings and treatment options.

For general anaesthetic procedures, payment prior to surgery can be made via credit card (Visa or Mastercard) over the phone, online, or via Electronic Funds Transfer. A receipt will be issued after your surgery, which you can submit to your health fund to process your rebate.

Medicare covers the cost of some medical treatments. Medicare does not cover dental treatment, though certain oral and maxillofacial procedures come with a rebate.

We’ve integrated Medicare Easyclaim to process your rebate at the time of payment. For more information about Medicare rebate eligibility and whether rebates apply to your treatment, contact our office.

MEDICARE AND PRIVATE HEALTH INSURANCE

Understanding Medicare and private health insurance.

Private health insurance

When a procedure is performed in a private hospital (including some oral and maxillofacial surgery procedures), your hospital insurance covers some of the cost of the operating theatre, surgery and anaesthesia. There may be still be a gap payment required for your procedure. One of our staff can help you to work out the exact out-of-pocket cost.

Extras coverage

Your Extras insurance provides rebates on dental procedures including examinations, periodontal treatment, surgery and tooth extractions. Amounts depend on your policy level, membership length, and level of cover.

Dental implant coverage

Depending on your level of cover, you may receive a rebate from your private health insurer for the surgical component of a dental implant.

Orthognathic surgery coverage

Orthognathic surgery is covered by Medicare and private health insurance. Coverage details will be discussed at your consultation.

Periodontal treatment coverage

Extras policies provide rebates for periodontal procedures including examinations, periodontal treatment, tooth extractions, maintenance procedures and periodontal surgery, based on individual private health insurance policy levels.

Processing your rebate

We have integrated Medicare Easyclaim to access rebates at the time of payment. Private health insurance rebates can usually be claimed at the point of care. For in-hospital procedures, we provide a receipt which can be submitted to your fund.
